Listening to Yourself

When it comes to listening to yourself, Energetic One, how are you doing? You may not be consciously aware that you are doing it as much as you actually do. There are some signals that are listened to without much thought such as bathroom urges and feeling hungry because listening to these have been mastered.

Let’s delve into what else listening to yourself can entail.

What is needed when listening?

When listening to yourself (or anyone else), discernment is needed.

Discernment is being able to grasp and comprehend what is obscure (source); exhibiting keen insight and good judgment (source); having the ability to show good judgement about the quality of somebody or something (source).

As with most things, this takes practice. Eventually the practice becomes mastery.

How often do you listen?

Do you listen sometimes, whenever, occasionally, always or never? I think everyone, at some point, has ignored the information one’s self has provided. Ignored out of fear perhaps? Maybe ignored due to distractions? I also think that everyone, at some point, has gotten the wrong meaning of the information one’s self has provided. A self misdiagnosis or a self misguidance? Possibly from the lack of discernment?

What do you listen to?

Do you listen to what your physical body tells you? Your body will provide you with information about what it needs. It lets you know what foods you should not eat through allergic and adverse reactions. It lets you know what foods no longer agree with you as you age. It lets you know when there is a need for healthier food consumption. It lets you know if there is a need for salty or sweet foods. Have you ever eaten something that you thought you wanted but it didn’t hit the spot because it wasn’t what your body wanted so you try something else until you get it right or give up, trying to ignore it? What about having a hankering/craving for something? Your body gives you signals when something is wrong.

Do you listen to what your gut (instinct/feeling) tells you? Your gut will provide you with indicators and warnings. Your gut can warn you about the people to distance yourself from. They may be energy vampires, negativity-thrivers, drama seekers, etc. This warning serves as an indicator to acquaint yourself with others who are towards the positive end of the spectrum. Your gut can signal when something doesn’t seem to be as it appears… warning you that something isn’t right. Your gut can also give signals regarding what direction to take or not take.

Do you listen to what your heart tells you? Your heart will provide you with information regarding the things you are passionate about. If your heart isn’t in it, do you do it despite it? If you are doing something and your heart isn’t in it, do you continue doing it? Are you in the wrong line of work or working for the wrong reason? Do you like to travel? Do you have a project that you would like to start or one that needs finished? Your heart tells you what you need. Do you need to spend more time connecting with nature in which you part of? Do you need to take a break… to recharge… to relax? When was the last time that you read a book? What about making personal connections offline?

Do you listen to what your mind tells you? Your mind can provide you with knowledge. This knowledge may be in the form of stored information/memories as well as new knowledge or a knowing. Your mind is a wheel-house. It is always working, always spinning. Thoughts leading to more thoughts, questions to answers and answers to questions. However, without having mental control, the mind can play tricks on you. Without discernment the mind can fool you. Without clear thought processing, you can find yourself manipulated, misled or misguided.

Do you listen to your higher self? Your higher self provides your with insight/wisdom. It gives guidance prompts which, from my experience, serve a purpose immediately or at some point and time in your life. These prompts help you to get on, remain on, or get back on your path through this life’s journey. Your higher self is the shining light within you… also referred to as your soul. To hear… all you need do is listen.

What is gained by listening to yourself ?

Listening to yourself strengthens your self communication skill. Self-awareness, self-insight, self-care, self-understanding and healing can be gained through this skill. Your four bodies, mental, physical, emotional & spirit, are different facets of you. All need care and all provide information to you. These bodies are connected and with that when there is an issue with one, the others (one or more) are effected. Also, the four bodies are meant to work together, not be at odds or any one dominant. The goal is to create harmony and balance between them.

This can be achieved through listening to yourself with the use of discernment.
