Self-care is a topic that has been spotlighted worldwide.
It seems that most of the discussion surrounds the mental and emotional bodies. The focus put on these bodies needs to be broadened to include the other two, the physical and spiritual bodies, as all are connected. Don’t forget that what affects one can affect one or more if not all of the others. It is important to be self aware of each individually and as part of the whole. Sound familiar? One thing that is for sure… it is not a selfish act.

Self-care as the name suggests is caring for self… yourself.
Self-care is a necessity. Self-care is a responsibility.
You and only you have the power to do it.
You and only you can choose to do it.
There are numerous opinions about what self-care is. There are numerous opinions about how to do self-care. This can be overwhelming and more so when self-care is dissected down to specific methods and situations. The intent of this article is to shine the spotlight on an “umbrella” concept that is known by other names. The practice of this concept can be applied to life regardless of the situation faced. It is also a practice that encompasses all four bodies individually and as a whole. It is one I know to be essential to self-care. The other names that this concept is known by may account for it not being included in the “self-care spotlight” or considered to be self-care.
The truth is, it IS the ultimate practice of self-care.
Mastery of Self
The ability to control your words, thoughts, emotions, actions and reactions regarding that which is NOT within your control.
The ability to control your words, thoughts, emotions, actions and reactions regarding that which IS within your control.
The ability to change the negativity you encounter into positive energy through a continuous process of healing and maintaining balance.
Mastery of Self is about having self control… self discipline. It does not mean that you do not feel, think, speak or act. It means that you take a pause. It means that you respond not react. It means that you do not lower yourself to the level of others. It means that you are self empowered. It means that you do not allow yourself to be triggered. It means that you hold yourself accountable and take responsibility for yourself. It means that you are able to process what you face and return to a state of balance. It is about learning and applying the principles above to the human experience of life. It is about personal growth. It is about keeping yourself in check.
Mastery of Self increases your vibrational level to reach a higher consciousness. This is spiritual growth.
So you see, this IS the ultimate practice of self-care.
Blessing of Love & Light,
