Is giving or receiving better? Should you give more than you receive?
You have probably heard the saying that it is better to give than to receive. This phrase was possibly an attempt to teach what can be gained from an act of generosity and selflessness. Maybe it was meant to show that the same emotions felt receiving can be felt from giving. The use of the word “better” is a strong indicator that you should give more than you receive. However, I have realized that energetically the phrase is the furthest from the truth. Giving more than one receives creates an energetic imbalance that affects your overall being. This process is a two way street as an imbalance is also created when more is received than given. Either party can initiate the creation of an imbalance. For balance, some sort of acceptance from both the giver and receiver is necessary.
When the receiver does not want what the giver is offering, something still needs to be accepted from the giver. This can be as simple as the acceptance of the giver’s gesture with a show of appreciation through the spoken words of the receiver and the giver’s acceptance of it. When what is given is accepted and the giver wants nothing in return from the receiver, the giver still needs to accept something. This can also be as simple as a show of appreciation or gratitude through the spoken word of the receiver for what was received and the giver’s acceptance of it. Both need to be fulfilled energetically for balance. As you can see it is important to give and yes, receive. Remember that in life having and maintaining balance is key.
