I found my notes about something I had written long ago about the phrase, “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” I remember constantly being reminded of this life lesson growing up. A book was used because the cover cannot tell you if the content (story) is good. Based on the same concept or principle is the wrapping.
What is more important, the wrapper or the content? How much energy is used wrapping a present with colorful wrapping paper? What about the addition of trimmings such as bows and ribbons to make it prettier? This is done knowing that it will be ripped off when opened. Always remember that the most beautiful wrapping can hide the least desirable content and that a concept that applies to one area of life can usually be applied to other areas as well. This may not be difficult conceptually; however in practice, the application of it seems to be difficult.
When this concept is applied to a human being, what is important… what is on the outside or on the inside? I believe the general consensus would be what’s inside is more important than the outside. However, is this really practiced? If it was, would there be such things as bullying or discrimination? Where lies the focus?
Using the analogies, the cover and the wrapping represent the physical body (vessel) thus physical appearance such as sex, race and condition are seen. Then there are the clothes and accessories worn or the lack thereof of these so called “trimmings” (like the bows and ribbons). These are some of the indicators used to make judgements or determinations about others. Both the content of the book and present represent the inner workings of self… the human part such as personality, character and beliefs as well as the spiritual part, the higher self or soul. The soul is your foundational being. Through the connection with soul, information can be accessed from within and projected outward.
Many thought that the conceptual focus was changed, yet here we are again. This time it is under the guise of “identity politics”. The same concept under a different name to make it sound new and exciting in order for it to spread. Were the lessons learned in the past not taught? How did the focus on character and merit change?
Many fought to get the focus away from the wrapper and to the content. The mere acceptance of this “new” premise tarnishes that which was strived for and the progress that has been made since that time. The wounds of yesteryear thought to be healed have been ripped open and further injury caused. Injury to those who are allowing themselves to be triggered and influenced by those who stand to gain from these reactions.
The issues with the wrapper are human not Divine.
