This article explores the human experience of victimhood. It seems that there are victims everywhere you look these days. They can be seen across social media and in the news. There are those who are victims and there are those who claim to be. Those who are not create the illusion they are and in cases someone else justifies it. It is not a wise energetic practice to claim to be something you are not. As I have stated before, meanings are important. It is also not a wise energetic practice to claim to be something that you don’t know the meaning of… for any reason. The exploration begins with the definitions of words that pertain to this topic. Sometimes words in meanings need explored to know what is being expressed.
What is a victim? It is a person who is harmed or killed by another person; a person harmed by circumstance or condition; or a person harmed, injured or killed as a result of a crime, accident, event or action. What is meant by harmed? It is to damage or injure physically or mentally; to cause harm. What is meant by damage or injure? Damage suggests injury that lowers value or impairs usefulness; Injure implies the inflicting of anything detrimental to one’s looks, comfort, health, or success. (source)
What is victimized? It is the action of being singled out by someone for cruel or unjust treatment. What is meant by cruel or unjust treatment? Cruel treatment is conduct or behavior towards another that implies indifference to suffering and even positive pleasure in inflicting it; Unjust treatment implies unfair conduct or behavior towards another (source)
What is victimhood? It is a state of victimization; of being a victim (source)
With the definitions covered, let’s move forward with the exploration of victimhood. One more thing, I want to point out that the focus of this article is on the individual because ‘the one can become the many’ when taught by example i.e. learned from example and lead to the many becoming the all.

You have the power NOT to get on this train.
The idea that victimhood appears to be embraced and taught as a way to exist is self defeating. This is happening as a result of victimhood being used as a tool throughout society. It’s being used as an excuse or scapegoat for many things including creating chaos and destruction. It’s being used by some as justification for committing crimes against persons and property. It’s being promoted and pushed by those who want power as a means for controlling others. It’s being used as a means to disregard accountability by many including some in leadership. Victimization is not something new as it has been a part of the human experience for lifetimes. However, this is not the only “game” being played.
Another is the “blame game” and it is not new either. It is another human tactic/experience that is used in conjunction with victimhood. The players of this game think that by blaming someone or something else, their responsibility or accountability is somehow nullified. This is a falsehood. It is also thought that playing this game makes them feel better. This is also a falsehood. What do we know about falsehoods? That’s right, falsehoods create illusion.
The players may change (or do they?), the game does not. As you know, repetitiveness occurs when lessons aren’t learned. As you also know, learning is an on going process in this life. So when it comes to victimhood, I ask you… Could it be that the lesson hasn’t been learned yet? Could it be that the lesson was learned then forgotten? Could it be that the lesson learned has not been taught to those who came after? Could it be that the lesson being taught is being rejected by those who came after? Could it be that the lesson was learned yet it is being ignored for the purpose of some form of gain? As with other things, victimhood is being promoted.
Victimhood as a plague of the mind is having a ‘victim mentality’. It lends to a ‘poor me’ or ‘I am entitled to’ outlook on life. There are those who will validate, support and even encourage this plague. What could be the motivation or intention for this? Who does it benefit? The promotion, encouragement and justification of a victim mentality has weaponized it further with these manipulation and controlling tactics. This mental plague is spreading and it is dangerous.
There are two means victimhood is experienced. The first is by the choice of another and the second is by your own choice. As you know, choices made create your life.
Another’s Choice
Do you control the choice(s) made by another? The answer is no. Do you control the circumstance in which you were born? Again the answer is no. Do you personally control the condition of society in which you live? The answer again is no. You do NOT control the choice(s) that another makes. You are NOT accountable for the choice(s) that another makes. Accountability lies with the one who makes the choice(s)… no one else. This pertains not only to choices made in the present but also to the choices that were made in the past including those of the ancestors.
When you are victimized by the choices made by another, where is your control?
Your control (power) lies in the choice that you make from that point forward. You have two choices… remain the victim or heal overcoming it. Sound harsh? It is truth. You may be thinking that you would not choose to remain a victim. However, there are many who do and many who don’t realize they do. There are also many who pretend to. What are some reasons that could enable this? Sympathy? Pity? Attention? Monetary gain? Anger? Pressure? Etc… the list goes on. Choosing to remain the victim is a rejection of healing. Is it not?
I am adding this to the article because of how prevalent it is to the above statement that I wrote days ago. I scrolled upon a post in my newsfeed this morning that said, “The wound was not your fault, but the healing is your responsibility.” I can tell you from both personal and professional experience that this is truth. It is up to you as to whether or not you believe it is. This is where overcoming victimization begins. It starts with making the conscious choice not to allow the victimization to consume you and victimhood define you/your life. This choice is actually you choosing healing. It is this choice that keeps you from being a carrier of the victim mentality plague and allows you to honestly feel, deal and heal.
Your Own Choice
Do you control the choice(s) you make? The answer is yes. Do you control the circumstance in which you live? Again the answer is yes. You control the choice(s) you make. You are accountable for the choice(s) that you make. Accountability lies with the one who makes the choice(s)… no one else. No reasons or influence have bearing on this, your choice is your choice and you are accountable for it. This pertains to your choices past, present and future.
When you are a victim by choices made by you, where is your control?
Yes, you can victimize yourself. The other day I scrolled upon a post that said and I am paraphrasing, “It is not always demons that you are fighting. Sometimes what you are fighting are the consequences of the choices you made.” This fight exists because responsibility isn’t nullified thus the consequences are yours to deal with even if you are living a life of illusion. When you claim victimhood as an excuse for your action, you may think you are in control but you are not. The illusion is in control of you and others will attempt to use your illusion to control you. Individualism and the ability to think for yourself are important especially when you are among like-minded people. It is called like-minded not exact-minded. These are also important, which one would think would be apparent, when among differ-minded people. Do not “go along to get along” as I have heard it called. Your ability to think for yourself is imperative in the life you live as you are the one who makes your life what it is through your choices and the consequences of them.
Final Thoughts
Help to conquer this plague by remembering that those who attempt to use influence, manipulation, pressure, guilt, bribery or any other human tactic to encourage you to accept a victim mentality do not do it for your benefit even though they say otherwise. This mentality is not beneficial to you as they want you to believe however, it may be of great benefit to them. The spread and promotion of the victim mentality counteracts the progress made. An example of this is prosecutors not upholding the laws put in place to deter negative behavior, chaos and crime in society while hearing politicians using victimhood to justify this behavior thus not holding them accountable. This has no bearing on the spiritual and energetic accountability that exists. Victimhood is a human experience, not a spiritual experience. Spiritually there are no victims. Spiritually there is potential and there are lessons. Energetically, when you say that you are something, you receive the energy that it carries even if what you say is a falsehood. The declaration made is your acceptance of its energy. It’s your choice… your accountability… your energy.
